Power Point, When, Who and Why?

Slide ware programs are prevalent in schools and corporate America. Are we
teaching our students to use this tool to induce senselessness, to elevate
format over content or can we teach presentation skills that have quality,
relevance and integrity of content. This workshop will address the subject
of when to use Power Point, who should be using and why.
Roundtable Discussion: Laptops in the Classroom
Considerations for the a laptop environment. Discussion of best practices for both a 1 to 1 environment and mobile laptop carts. Come prepared for discussion.

Podcasts, wikis- how are people using them- social impact on kids too- including but not limited to :

Technology and the Math Classroom
Walt Gander, Kentucky Country Day School
What tools are available for technology in the math classroom? Mr. Gander, a teacher with 40 years experience, will demonstrate some examples of how he has integrated software and hardware into a tech rich environment. Walt will also share some insights into the impact of technology in his classroom. Walt employs laptops, Geometer Sketchpad, and SmartBoard technology into his discussion/demonstration.

Round table discussion: Computer Teacher and LS/MS Teacher Collaboration
Come prepared to discuss strategies to implement collaboration between
technology instruction and content area subjects. Examples of success and
disappointment will be discussed. How can we best bring our teachers and
students into the 21st century? How do we break the norm of lesson plans,
rubrics and assessment with no technology requirement? Come prepared for
discussion.
AP Computer Science – Where It Is Going? -

The updated Java 1.5.0 subset for teaching AP Computer Science
The various free compiler software available for Macs and PCs for writing programs with a special look at the Eclipse compiler
What practice exams to use to prepare students for the AP Exam
The new AP Case Study Program named GridWorld to be implemented during the 2007-2008 school year
